Welcome to the website of the Universal Culture VISIONARY TAROT
“Tamara Nikolic’s UNIVERSAL CULTURE VISIONARY TAROT DECK taps into the collective unconscious of all cultures. The monumental achievement of painting seventy-eight provocative images was borne out of Ms. Nikolic’s drive to create and funnel the joy of life into her art. Like a good book you never want to end, she devoured each image and lesson of the Tarot. Light shines through even in the darker, more challenging steps of the Tarot. There is always hope. It is my great honor to write this Guide and the accompanying Book describing her astonishing work.” (from the Quick Guide to Meanings by Catherine Riggs-Bergesen, Psy.D. April 2008)

I was always impressed with people’s ability to read the Tarot cards. I think it is an enormous gift which carries with itself very special responsibility. When a friend told me last year that she is writing a book about different Tarot cards and through her gentle smile asked me if I wanted to create a new set, I accepted it with joy. Never have I dreamed it will change and challenge my life so much. So my journey began.. I searched for inspiration for a new set of Tarot cards. There are so many beautiful ones, and I wanted to give my special mark. The only way I could do it- was to be myself. As a guiding thread I have used the book by Arthur Edward Waite “The Pictorial Key to the Tarot”. (Us. Games systems, Inc, CT) The Major Arcana I created has as a main character a little wooden doll that artists use for learning proportions. The Major Arcana definitely has put a proportion of my life to the Universe. It opened up its doors to me, through which I boldly entered. Little did I know what is coming. But I jumped into it and there was no returning back- nor did I want to. The Set of Wands I presented through my journey in this life as an artist. Instead of a Wand there is a Brush. This is who I am. Each card in this set carries a piece of my life. The Set of Cups resonated with one of my past lives. It leads me to the East, and the set I created, the Set of Jars is presented in Eastern art (including Hindu, Chinese, Japanese and Malaysian). The Set of Swords I kept the same. I have found it to be quite difficult to go through that “sharpness” of spiritual rebirth. But the reward of a healed wound and a pain gone away is a reward in itself. The final set of Pentacles, I presented as a Set of Stars and made it entirely through the Egyptian mythology. We all carry deep roots from that culture anyway, so why not express it? It resonated with me while I was doing it, so strongly, and I finished the drawings in one day! So here they are- the Visionary Tarot cards. An experience made into the cards. They serve as an excellent tool as well. As much as I think in moments that I have arrived somewhere, I am very fast reminded by the “Fool” where actually I am. Just at the beginning….
